For his role in the movie Mimi, Pankaj Tripathi got the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. The actor, who lost his father on August 21, is, however, still in mourning. Tripathi declared in a statement that the National Film Award is in memory of his late father, Pandit Benaras Tripathi.
In his statement, the actor said, “Unfortunately, I’m going through a time of grief and mourning. Babuji would have been overjoyed for me if he had been present. He was quite happy and delighted when I initially received the National Award mention. I dedicate this National Award to him and his spirit. He made me into the person I am today. Due to the circumstances, I’m at a loss for words, but I’m still grateful to the team and happy. Congratulations go out to Kriti, who also won Best Actress.
It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Pankaj Tripathi’s father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, has passed away, according to a statement released by Tripathi’s team following his father’s passing. He had a 99-year, healthy life. His immediate relatives will attend his final rites today. Pankaj Tripathi is currently travelling to his Gopalganj hometown.
