The doctor for Denmark’s national team stated on Monday morning that Christian Eriksen, who fell on the field during Sunday’s friendly between Denmark and Ukraine, is anticipated to be released from the hospital “soon.”

In the 65th minute of Sunday’s game, which was later called off, Eriksen, 34, seemed to grip his chest before collapsing to the ground.
In a statement shared on the federation’s social media, team physician Morten Boesen said, “I spoke with Christian this morning, and he is doing well. He is with family and in good spirits.”It is anticipated that he would soon be released and able to go back home.We maintain constant communication with the players and staff and take good care of them.”
Christian Eriksen Early Career:
Born on February 14, 1992, Christian Dannemann Eriksen is a professional football player from Denmark who plays midfield for both the national team and the 2. Bundesliga team VfL Wolfsburg.
At the age of 18, Eriksen started his professional club career in 2010 with Ajax, where he won the KNVB Cup and three Eredivisie titles. After spending €19.7 million to join Inter Milan in 2020, Eriksen went on to win a Serie A championship.
Eriksen suffered a heart episode during a UEFA Euro 2020 match on June 12, 2021, and collapsed on the field. He was given CPR and subsequently fitted with an ICD. Eight months later, he joined Brentford in the Premier League to resume playing football. The next season, he moved to Manchester United.

He won both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup at United before leaving the team following the 2024–2025 campaign. On June 7, 2026, he passed out once more during an international friendly against Ukraine.
At the age of 18, Eriksen made his senior international debut for Denmark in 2010. With over 150 caps, including six major tournament appearances, he is presently the country’s record appearance holder. He was also the youngest player at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Eriksen, who was born in Middelfart, Denmark, began playing football at the local team’s academy, Middelfart G&BK, following in his father Thomas’ footsteps. In 2004, the youth team won the local youth championship without losing for the third time in four years thanks to the coaching of Eriksen’s father.
The next year, he joined OB, which participated in the Danish youth championships and won an age-group title in less than a year. Eriksen originally demonstrated his technical prowess at OB, when then-coach Tonny Hermansen praised his dribbling and free-kicking skills. Several prominent European clubs, notably Chelsea and Barcelona, were interested in him because of his youthful success.
After trying out for both teams as well as Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Milan, Eriksen ultimately made the decision to join Ajax, saying, “My first step should not be too big.” I was aware that playing in the Netherlands would be beneficial to my growth. Then Ajax showed up, and that was a great choice.
Christian Eriksen in Matches:
Boesen’s update followed his earlier comment following the event on Sunday, in which he stated: “[Eriksen] was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly.”
During Denmark’s Euro 2020 match against Finland in Copenhagen in June 2021, the former Manchester United and Tottenham midfielder experienced a heart arrest and needed to be revived on the field.

Eight months after collapsing against Finland, Eriksen was able to resume his playing career with Premier League team Brentford in February 2022 after being released by Inter Milan and fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, a unique heart-starting device.
Eriksen reacted to his teammates following the incident in the friendly against Ukraine, according to Denmark manager Brian Riemer on Sunday.
“Christian Eriksen waved to his teammates as he left the pitch,” Riemer reported to the media.I mistakenly believed that he was upset because he had a fight with Ruslan Malinovskyi just before he became unwell. Neither I nor the guys on the field could have continued the game after that.
Denmark and Ukraine did not make it to the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, or Canada this summer.
